Sun?

I suppose I haven’t posted in a while for two reasons: 1) we have been really busy with guests and 2) the only things to write about were the cold and the rain. It seems the cold and rain have been exchanged for sun which is a really nice change. It was unseasonably hot yesterday but were were not going to complain at all :-) . The sun is glorious and the heat is bearable. We are looking forward to many more awesome guests and fun on Flathead Lake.

Rain, rain and more rain.

I suppose it is spring in Montana as the rain just doesn’t seem to stop. Fortunately we had an amazing weekend full of sunshine, therefore we will welcome the rain during the week as it will aid in keeping summer fires to a minimal. We are hoping for another beautiful weekend so we can kayak around the bay.

Osprey and birds of prey

Spend Saturday evening down by the lake watching the osprey fish. It was fascinating to watch them circle then swoop in for the catch. The fish seemed to put up a good fight which makes for even more fun. To top it all off the last catch was met with a golden eagle looking for an easy dinner. After much swooping, zig-zagging and ups and downs the osprey managed to keep his food. The eagle went back to the tree to perch and wait for more easy food.

beginning to clear up a bit

Well the rain is tapering off a bit and is supposed to hit us one more time tonight but this weekend is rumored to be spectacular. We have lots to do still with many guests arriving this week. We enjoyed breakfast with our current guests this morning then headed to our local farmers’ market for our weekly fix of goodies. Kudos to the vendors that braved the threat of rain and the chilly temperatures – we are excited for our treats and look forward to enjoying them all weekend.

more rain

After a somewhat beautiful day yesterday – chilly and windy with sunshine – we are back to rain. It seems the rain will be here today and tomorrow and the weekend will begin to brighten up again. It would be nice to be guests in our lake cabin right now, especially if you like to veg out and listen to the rain with a good book or a movie and a loved one. It looks like we will pick out and plant flowers next week and everything will begin to come together. The deer should be dropping their fawns soon. It is always so much fun to see them learn how to walk and play and run and eat. Be careful if you are traveling as they are always one step behind their mothers and not quite as smart.

Rain, rain stay for the day….

The rain is ever so slightly falling making everything green a backdrop for the vibrant spring flowers. Montana’s arrowleaf balsamroots look like scattered sunflowers and the lilacs are beginning to show off their purple majesty. Although they are short lived we enjoy everyday we get to look at them.

Blogging (for real)

They say ‘Word Press” is THE blog to use so we are giving it a shot. We are getting really excited for this upcoming summer season and with guests just around the corner it is a good thing. Many exciting changes are taking place and will be complete within a week. Two more rooms are getting a ‘facelift’ and will sparkle when complete. The yard is taking shape and the flowers are blooming all over the place. Green is an understatement when describing the area. The sunshine has been abundant which is providing a new attitude to the grey and gloom of winter which has finally passed. Our spring may be short this year with winter lingering as long as it did but it is a welcomed change. Summer is just around the corner and that means lots of guests and excitement. We have been so fortunate to have met some amazing people from all over the world and look forward to many new ones this summer as well as some returning friends.
